NATALIE LIN DOUGLAS

VIOLIN

New Zealand-born violinist Natalie Lin was a prizewinner in the 2013 Michael Hill International Violin Competition and the 2012 Klein International Strings Competition. She has performed as soloist with the New Zealand Symphony, Auckland Philharmonia and Erie Philharmonic, as well as with the orchestras of Cleveland Institute of Music and Rice University as winner of their concerto competitions. Notable other solo performances include the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., Severance Hall in Cleveland, Ohio, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Taipei, Taiwan. A Britten-Pears Young Artist (UK) from 2011–13, Ms Lin appeared as concertmaster for the 2013 Britten-Pears Orchestra. She has been featured on Houston Public Media’s “The Front Row,” Radio New Zealand and live broadcasted on Cleveland’s WCLV.

An avid chamber musician, Ms Lin has toured throughout New Zealand with the Turnovsky Jubilee and CLiK ensembles in concerts presented by Chamber Music New Zealand, and in the UK with the Scottish Ensemble. She has collaborated with such musicians as Paul Kantor, Jon Kimura Parker, Kyung Sun Lee and Jeffrey Irvine. Ms Lin is the founder and leader of the new Houston-based conductorless ensemble, KINETIC, which unites the intimacy of chamber music with the force of the orchestra, while giving platform to under-represented works in the classical repertoire.
