Context’s season ends with a towering pinnacle of musical inspiration. One of France’s greatest composers ever, Gabriel Fauré was 75 when he wrote his Second Quintet for Strings and Piano. One of his most elevated, lyrical, and spiritual works, the Quintet was a crowning glory of his career. Very rarely performed, it presents enormous challenges to performers; Context brings together a stellar ensemble dedicated to serving this work’s transcendent beauty. With exquisite gems for flute by Fauré and his contemporaries, featuring the magnificent flutist Judy Dines.
