BRAHMS AND BÖSENDORFER
In 1862, the 29-year-old Johannes Brahms made a sensation with his first solo performance in his new hometown, Vienna. The program included the A-Major Piano Quartet — which you’ll hear at Context’s concert. And the piano he played? The program states: ‘Die Claviere sind aus der Fabrik Bösendorfer’ — The Piano is by the Bösendorfer Company! Context’s piano is also by the same Ignaz Bösendorfer, built just a few years earlier!
- Elisabeth von Herzogenberg — Piano Pieces
- Robert Schumann — Trio #1 in D Minor for Violin, Cello, and Piano
- Johannes Brahms — Quartet #2 in A Major for Violin, Viola, Cello, and Piano
