Eric Halen joined the Houston Symphony Orchestra as Assistant Concertmaster in 1987. In 1997, he was awarded the position of Associate Concertmaster, and served as Acting Concertmaster for three seasons. He toured the world as a member of the HSO Chamber Players with Christoph Eschenbach. In 2006, he was invited by conductor Leonard Slatkin and the Nashville Symphony to join them as Guest Concertmaster to open their new hall, the Schermerhorn Center, in a concert broadcast nationally by PBS.
